Gdynia Maritime University (GMU) is Poland's largest state maritime university and one of the leading maritime academic institutions in Europe. Located in Gdynia, a historic seaport city in the Tricity metropolitan area (Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot), the university has been educating maritime professionals since its establishment in 1920. Port Gdynia is a modern universal seaport located on the western shore of Gdańsk Bay in the Baltic Sea, Poland. Founded in 1926, the port ranked second in intermodal containers on the Baltic Sea as of 2008. The port specializes in handling general cargo, mainly unitized cargo transported in containers and in the ro-ro system, based on a well-developed network of multimodal connections including hinterland, regular Short Sea Shipping Lines as well as ferry connections NATO Gateway. Port Gdynia is an important link in the Corridor VI of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) NATO Gateway and serves as a strategic logistics hub connecting Baltic Sea routes with Polish and European rail and road networks. With a total area of almost 3,000 hectares, including over 900 hectares of land area, Port Gdynia is also recognized as Poland's largest grain port. Rzeszów University of Technology (Politechnika Rzeszowska im. Ignacego Łukasiewicza, PRz) is the largest technical university in south-eastern Poland and a state-funded academic institution.
