8Foundry-Alliance Joins the Taipei Computer Association

For the first time in its history, the Taipei Computer Association has accepted a European organisation as a full member. 8Foundry Alliance joins a body that accounts for over 85% of Taiwan’s entire ICT industrial output

The Association That Built Taiwan’s Tech Industry

The Taipei Computer Association was founded in 1974 with 15 member companies. Today it has 3,100 members operating across 18 cities in Taiwan, spanning software, hardware, semiconductor and electronic component manufacturing, systems integration, and internet services.

The numbers are straightforward: TCA member companies hold a combined capital of NTD 1.88 trillion (approximately USD 57 billion) and employ over 740,000 people in Taiwan alone. That is more than 85% of the country’s ICT industrial output value – which means TCA is not a trade association for the Taiwanese tech sector. It is the Taiwanese tech sector, with offices in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, and overseas desks in Tokyo, Beijing, Bangalore, and Selangor. TCA also organises Computex – one of the largest ICT trade shows in the world.

A Partnership Built Over Years, Formalised in March

On 18 March 2026 – the 18th (十八), a number that carries weight in Taiwanese culture – 8Foundry-Alliance was formally accepted into TCA. This is the first time in the association’s history that a European organisation has joined its membership. The decision reflects years of building concrete relationships with Taiwan’s tech community, not diplomatic formalities.

For 8Foundry-Alliance’s member companies, this opens direct access to a network of 3,100 firms: component manufacturers, systems integrators, semiconductor suppliers, and distributors who underpin much of the global ICT supply chain. The corridor runs both ways. For TCA members and Taiwanese companies, 8Foundry brings structured access to markets in Central-Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and East Africa – regions where Taiwanese firms have had limited institutional footholds.

This partnership did not begin in March 2026. The formal membership is the last step in a process that started long before – and that is precisely what makes it durable.
