8Foundry Alliance at SCSE 2026: Pomerania Meets Taiwan
From 17 – 20 March in Taipei and 20 – 22 March in Kaohsiung, the Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) will take place – one of the most important events in East Asia dedicated to smart city solutions, digital transformation, and urban technologies.
The expo is organized by the Taipei Computer Association, one of the region’s key industry organizations bringing together stakeholders from the new technologies sector. As part of the event, 8Foundry Alliance is organizing the first-ever joint Polish booth at SCSE – a historic milestone showcasing Poland’s technological potential nationwide, with Pomerania as the flagship example representing all Polish regions. The booth will serve as a platform to promote Poland’s innovation ecosystem while establishing direct relationships with institutional and business partners from Taiwan, East Asia, and Central Asia.
Pomerania Representation at SCSE
A strong representation of the Pomeranian region is involved in preparing for the fair. The initiative brings together the cities of Gdynia, Gdańsk, and Sopot, along with InvestGDA, Invest in Pomerania, Port of Gdynia Authority S.A., and the company Łączpol Sp. z o.o.
During a working meeting held prior to the trip, participants discussed key project areas and the framework for cooperation during the expo. The talks involved representatives of both central and local government, including Jacek Karnowski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy; Jeff Y.J. Liu, Head of the Taipei Representative Office; Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdańsk; Aleksandra Kosiorek, Mayor of Gdynia; Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, Mayor of Sopot; Paweł Orłowski, CEO of InvestGDA; Justyna Patyk, Deputy Head of Department at the Gdynia City Hall; and Rafał Magryś, Chair of the 8Foundry Alliance Cluster Council.
B2B and Poland-Taiwan Partnerships Agenda
The delegation’s agenda includes B2B meetings and matchmaking sessions with cities, public institutions, and technology partners from Taiwan and the region. The objective of participating in SCSE is to initiate pilot projects, expand R&D cooperation, enable technology transfer, and build long-term investment partnerships between Pomerania and Taiwan.
Participation in the expo aligns with the broader strategy of strengthening Pomerania’s position as an industrial and technology-driven region with international relevance. A strong maritime and logistics sector, a well-developed IT and R&D ecosystem, higher education institutions, and experience in delivering infrastructure projects provide a solid foundation for cooperation with Asian partners.
Comprehensive Cooperation with Taiwan via 8Foundry Alliance
At 8Foundry Alliance, we view cooperation with Taiwan in a comprehensive way. It includes not only the semiconductor sector, but also smart city solutions, cybersecurity, telecommunications, logistics and ports, green technologies, urban digital transformation, drone and satellite technologies, machinery and industrial engineering, medical technologies, as well as education, academic exchange, and joint R&D projects. An important element is also the development of two-way business relations and the opportunity to enter third markets jointly.
Projects implemented under the 8Foundry Alliance are long-term and strategic in nature. Their goal is to build a lasting bridge of cooperation between Pomerania and Taiwan, and to strengthen the region’s international position in advanced technologies and innovation.
